Attendance Policy and NHS Registration Lapse

There is an expectation that NHS patients attend the practice at regular intervals, usually between 6 and 24 months, as per NICE guidelines. The recommendation to have an oral examination is a key message in preventative dentistry. Research shows that long-term attendance has a positive impact on oral health in general, contributing to increased oral health-related quality of life while decreasing tooth loss and caries rates.

Due to unprecedented NHS demand, we are currently at full capacity. In light of this, we must advise patients that if they fail to attend two or more appointments or cancel at short notice (less than 24 hours for appointments with the dentist and 48 hours for appointments with the hygienist) we reserve the right to de-register them, without notification, from our NHS patient list.

Additionally, our patient list will be reviewed regularly and when patients have not attended for a routine check-up in the last 24 months this will result in their de-registration, without notification, from the practice.

We would like to thank you for your support and look forward to providing you with continuing NHS Dental Care.
